आज आपण दाजीपुरचे गवा अभयारण्य पाहतो त्याचे "दाजीपुर" हे नाव रा छ शाहू महाराज यांनी दिले आहे.मुळ आोलवण गावच्या हद्दीत असणारे हे गाव.राधानगरीच्या पुढे पश्चिमेकडचे शेवटचे टोक आणि तेथून कोकणला जाऊन भिडणारी फोंड्याची खिंड या दरम्यानचा परिसर म्हणजे दाजीपूर. दाजीपूर म्हणजे फोंडा घाटाची सुरवात.पण दाजीपूरची खरी ओळख आजही लपलेली आहे. " दाजीपूर" हे नाव म्हणजे दाजीराव अमृतराव विचारे या संस्थानकालीन कर्तृत्ववान बांधकाम अधिकाऱ्याची स्मृती आहे.रा.छ.शाहू महाराजांच्या दरबारी असलेले आर्किटेक्ट

राजर्षी शाहू महाराजांच्या खास विश्वासातले म्हणुन त्यांची आोळख होती.आपण वाचत आहात माहिती सेवा ग्रूप पेठवडगावची पोस्ट,आज जो दाजीपूरचा परिसर आहे,तो दाजीराव विचारे यांच्या कर्तृत्वामुळे या परिसराशी जोडला गेलेला आहे.दाजीराव विचारे हे तत्कालिन मुंबई सरकारच्या सार्वजनिक बांधकाम खात्यात नोकरीस होते.ती नोकरी सोडून शाहू महाराजांनी त्यांना करवीर संस्थानच्या नोकरीत घेतले.ब्रिटिश अभियंता आर. जे. शानन यांच्या नंतर त्यांच्या जागी कार्यकारी अभियंता म्हणून दाजीराव विचारे यांची नियुक्ती झाली.ते बांधकाम क्षेत्रातील तज्ज्ञ होते.

शाहू महाराजांचे स्वप्न असणारे राधानगरी धरण, साठमारी , खासबाग कुस्ती मैदान, पॅलेस थिएटर,(केशवराव भोसले नाट्यगृह)तसेच सिंधुदुर्ग किल्ल्यावरील शिवमंडप उभारणीत दाजीराव विचारे यांचे मोठे योगदान राहिले आहे. बहुजन समाजातील मुलांनी शिकून मोठे व्हावे म्हणून होतकरू मुलांना त्यांनी दत्तक घेतले होते . त्यांच्या शिक्षणासाठी त्यांनी स्वतःचा पैसा खर्च केला.सरकारी नोकरी इमानेएतबारे केल्याबद्दल दाजीराव विचारे यांना कसबा करवीरमध्ये राजर्षी शाहूंनी जमीन इनाम दिली होती (10 मे 1911 चा ठराव).शाहू महाराजांनी 1909 च्या सुमारास त्यांच्या कर्तृत्वाला मान म्हणून ओलवण गावाच्या परिसराला दाजीपूर हे नाव दिले.
दाजीराव विचारे हे कोल्हापुरात शाहूपुरीतील पाच बंगल्यापैकी एका बंगल्यात राहत होते.त्याकाळी हे पाच बंगले म्हणजे शान आणि मानाचे स्थान होते.आता त्यातल्या चार बंगल्यांच्या जागी स्टार टॉवर उभा आहे. फक्त दाजीराव विचारे यांचा बंगला शिल्लक आहे .दाजीराव विचारेंनी एस. टी.स्टॅंडजवळची जागा शाळेसाठी कोल्हापूर नगरपालिकेला दान केली म्हणुन ,नगरपालिकेने ठराव करून या शाळेला "विचारे विद्यालय" हे नाव दिले होते.काळाच्या ओघात ही शाळा पाडली व आज या जागी जेम्स स्टोन नावाची इमारत उभी आहे.ज्यांनी जागा दान केली,त्यांचे नाव या संकुलाखाली गाडले गेले.हा पराक्रम कोल्हापूर महानगर पालिकेने केला आहे.

Dajirao Amritrao Vichare was a skilled engineer.

He was known as a special believer of Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj. Shahu Maharaj left him and took him in the job of Karveer Sansthan. J. Shanan was succeeded by Dajirao Vichare as an Executive Engineer. He was an expert in the field of construction.

Dajirao Vichare has been instrumental in the construction of Radhanagari Dam, Sathmari, Khasbagh Wrestling Ground, Palace Theater, (Keshavrao Bhosale Natyagriha) and Shiv Mandap on Sindhudurg fort, which were Shahu Maharaj's dreams. He had adopted budding children so that the children of Bahujan Samaj could learn and grow up. He spent his own money for his education. Around 1909, Shahu Maharaj renamed the area of ​​Olvan village as Dajipur in honor of his achievements.

Dajirao Vichare was living in one of the five bungalows in Shahupuri, Kolhapur. At that time, these five bungalows were a place of pride and dignity. Only Dajirao Vichare's bungalow remains. As the land near T. Stand was donated to the Kolhapur Municipality for the school, the municipality decided to rename the school as "Vichare Vidyalaya". In the course of time, the school was demolished and today a building named James Stone stands on the site. This feat has been done by Kolhapur Municipal Corporation.
