बुटक्या लोकांचा गाव

बुटक्या लोकाकडे लोक कुतुहलाने तर काही तिरस्काराने पाहतात.पण हे चुकीचे आहे तसे पाहता दर २०,००० लोकांमधील एक मनुष्य बुटका असतो किंवा तो तसा जन्माला येतो, म्हणजेच ह्यांची जन्माची टक्केवारी खूप कमी असते, जवळपास एकूण लोकसंखेच्या ०.००५ इतकी असते. परंतु चीन मधील शिचुआन प्रांतातील यांग्सी गावाची गोष्ट काही वेगळीच आहे. या गावातील जवळपास ५० टक्के लोकसंख्या बुटकी आहे. या गावात राहणाऱ्या ८० पैकी ३६ लोकांची उंची फक्त २ फूट १ इंचापासून ३ फूट१० इंचाइतकीच आहे. एवढ्या मोठ्या प्रमाणात लोक बुटके असल्यामुळे हे गाव बुटक्यांचे गाव म्हणून प्रसिद्ध आहे, परंतु इतक्या प्रमाणात लोक बुटके असण्यामागचे रहस्य नेमके काय आहे, त्याचा थांगपत्ता गेल्या ६० वर्षांपासून या प्रश्नावर अभ्यास करणाऱ्या शास्त्रज्ञांना देखील लागलेला नाही.

याचे कारण शोधण्याचा प्रयत्न अनेक वर्षे चालू आहे पण अद्याप यश आले नाही.
